Clem Winston Bassett
YOAKUM - Clem Winston Bassett, age 80, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. He was
born on Aug. 8, 1927, in Richmond, to Cleon Hill and Gerald Bassett. He was a
racehorse trainer, rancher, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a 50-ye
member of the Morton Masonic Lodge No. 72 AF & AM, member of the Order of the
Eastern Star Chapters No. 282 in Yoakum and No. 618 in Cuero. Survivors: wife,
Benita Ulcak Bassett; son Rodney Bassett and wife Patty of Victoria; cousins,
Joan Moore, Barbie Lee, David Moore, Rick Moore. Preceded in death by:
parents; and sister, Geraldine Coats. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
today at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
on Tuesday at the funeral home with Cuero Chapter No. 618 and Yoakum Chapter
No. 282 of the Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Masonic graveside
services will be at 3 p.m. at Morton Cemetery in Richmond conducted by Morton
Masonic Lodge NO. 72 AF & AM. Pallbearers will be Robert Satterfield, David
Berkovsky, James Findeisen, Adam Findeisen, David Ulcak, and Don Schmid
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. A.J. and Harley Gaala; Dr. Juan Llompart; Rhonda,
David and Connie Beard; Moses and Gloria Berban; Oscar and Kathryn Hairell;
Thomas Vinson; Martha Ulcak; Linda Findelsen; Wyatt Lynn Blase; Gary Schulz;
Nancy Schmidt; Howard Garthright; Jo Ann Satterfield; and members of the Order
of the Eastern Star. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yoakum Order of
