My Grandpa
My Grandpa was the only grandfather that I remember. He lived in Oklahoma then Texas so only on vacations did I ever get to see him, or when he visited us in Martinez California. I never heard the story of why he and my Grandma Fern Bassett seperated, I never knew how long they were married, all I remember is they were never together or spoke of each other since I was a little kid. Grandpa married a very nice woman named Virginia, and Virginia to me was my grandmother too. Our family almost every year went to Kansas, Oklahoma or Texas to visit all my relatives, be it by car or train. Besides the fact that I honored Grandpa for his military time in WW2 he introduced me to Wrestling on TV, ya the fake stuff. He loved wrestling, and though Im a closet fan, I still watch a match from time to time, thanks to Grandpa, lol. Me and Grandpa would stay up late and watch the old TV series COMBAT starring Vic Morrow, I will never forget that show, it was simple but so real to me as a kid. Grandpa struck me as someone who was super smart, maybe because he was a medic in WW2 (on a ship) and retired in McGregor Texas as a phramacist. Maybe it was the way he dressed sharp or just the way he spoke, All I know is I will never forget Grandpa.
