- Raoul Robert Bessette, son of Rauol Moise and Jeanne Simone (Houle) Bessette, was born 6 Sep 1933 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He married Doris McLean, daughter of Charles and Maude Florence (Fleming) McLean, on 23 Jun 1956 at St. Patrick’s in Chicopee Fall, Massachusetts.
(From Rauol Bessette) Raoul moved with his parents in 1937 to Holyoke where he attended the Immaculate Conception Parochial School and later Holy Rosary High School, graduating in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Army the following summer. Following his release from the Army he married Doris and attended college locally earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Armed with the Accounting credentials they moved to Schenectady with two children in two and commenced work with General Electric Company as a Business Trainee. This was the start of a 34 year career involving numerous relocations and two overseas assignments in France and Taiwan. By 1992 business acquisition and reorganization resulted in Ralph receiving early retirement. The following summer, they made their final moved to Leesburg, Florida.

Will Marry Raoul Bessette of Holyoke
Miss Doris Florence McLean of Virginia Ave., Chicopee falls, daughter of Mrs. Florence Sanders of Bellows Falls, Vt., and Charles McLean of Bristol, N.H., will become the bride of Raoul Robert Bessette, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raoul Bessette of Center St., Holyoke, this morning at 9 o’clock in St. Patrick’s Church, Chicopee Falls. Rev. Thomas Curran will perform the ceremony. A reception will be held at the Quoit Club, where music will be by Tom Elliot’s Orchestra.
Miss Mary DuPont will attend as maid of honor and Miss Francis Bessette, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Dolores Deady will be bridesmaids. Sharon Bousquet, niece of the bride, will be the flower girl. All are of Chicopee Falls.
Serving Mr. Bessette will be his brother, Richard Bessette as best man, and Emil Premont and John Pickrell as ushers.
The bride will be given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Rosaire Bousquete, and will wear a gown of white nylon tulle with bodice of embroidered tulle over bridal satin, long pointed sleeves and Peter Pan collar. It is designed with an embroidered peplum and full skirt terminating in a cathedral train. She will wear a crown of sequins and pearls with a finger tip veil of imported French illusion, and carry a cascade of white carnations with white orchid center and streamers of stephanotis.
The maid of honor will wear a gown of blue, and the bridesmaids, gowns of pink and yellow nylon tulle, with bouffant skirts of ruffled tiers and inserts of white lace. Each will carry a cascade of carnations. The flower girl will wear a blue nylon tulle gown like those of the senior attendants and carry a miniature carnation cascade.
For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Sanders will be attired in navy blue crepe trimmed with white lace and a corsage of pink roses, and the bridegroom’s mother, in light blue lace, with a similar corsage.
The bride is a graduate of Chicopee High School and is employed as a clerk-typist by A.G. Spalding Bros. Mr. Bessette, a graduate of Rosary High School, attended Holyoke Junior College and is now employed by Magazine Press. After July 7, the couple will reside at 77 Massachusetts Ave., Willimansett.
