Paul ‘Rambo’ Bessette
Paul O. "Rambo" Bessette, 61, of Brandywine Drive, former president of the Granby Bow and Gun Club, died Thursday at home.
He was a carpenter-foreman for Aquadro & Cerruti Inc., a Northampton construction firm, and retired in 1990.
Born in Holyoke, he lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to this town 10 years ago.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War era, and served in the 517th Air Police Squadron.
He was president of the Granby Bow and Gun Club for eight years, was a member of Local 108 of the Western Massachusetts Carpenters Union, and was a former member of the Willimansett American Legion Post.
He was a keen archer.
He leaves his wife, the former Corinne Mayo; a son, Alan Rogers of Marietta Ga.; three daughters, Paula Bessette and Christine Longhi of Belchertown, and Kathleen Cote of South Hadley; his mother, Rhea (Couture) Bessette of Holyoke; three brothers, George of Chicopee, Albert of Granby, and Gerry of Hamden, Conn.; three sisters, Cecile Patryn of South Hadley, Claire Gladu of Chester, and Priscilla Boyce of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday morning at Beers & Story Funeral Home and St. Francis's Church, with burial at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon and evening.
