      Olga (Storozuk) Bessette

      Olga Bessette 1924 -2011 CHICOPEE - Olga (Storozuk) Bessette, 86, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. She passed into Eternal Life surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and the wonderful caregivers on staff at the Loomis House in Holyoke. She was born in Sunderland, Massachusetts, a beloved daughter of the late John and Michalina Storozuk. She graduated from the Boston School of Dental Hygiene and was employed as a Dental Assistant. She was a longtime resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee where she raised her family. She served along side her late husband, Joseph, as vice-president of J.O.B. Construction. She was last employed by the V.N.A. as a Homemaker Health Aide. Olga was a dedicated homemaker and a committed volunteer at local hospitals. She loved to dance and travel with her husband. She was a member of the Willimansett American Legion and the Fairview American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview and a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Joseph E. Bessette. They were married at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in South Deerfield and were blessed with 39 years of happiness together. She leaves her devoted children, Diane F. Mettey and her husband, George of Holyoke, Wayne J. Bessette and his wife, Judy, Denise H. Lawrence and her husband, Mark and Joel E. Bessette, all of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren, Christian J. Mettey and his wife, Tara, Jonathan W. Mettey, Lauren G. Creanza and her husband, Pete, Daniel J. Bessette and Gary J. Lawrence and his wife, Joy; her two treasured great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Jackson Mettey. She was predeceased by her dear brothers and sisters, Harry, William, Roger and Steve Storozuk, Mary Collum and Anne Boyko. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, March 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Loomis House, 298 Jarvis Avenue, Holyoke, MA 01040.
