Obituary in the MARTIN COUNTY SENTINEL: HARRIET BASSETT (Mrs. Alfred Bassett) Martin County Sentinel May 3, 1895 Died - Monday, April 29th, Mrs. Alfred Bassett, at a ripe old age. Mrs. Bassett has been ailing for more than a year, and for the past few months has been unable to help herself. The Bassetts settled in Elm Creek township about 1860, and Mrs. Bassett was known as one of the best mothers, a true and faithfull wife and was loved by all her associates, and leaves scores of warm friends, 4 full grown children and a husband lying at deaths door to mourn her departure.
