(See census listings below) CENSUS: Electa was found in the 1840, 1850, 1855, 1860, and 1865 censuses: In the 1840 census of Bennington, Genesee, NY - p. 50 (BYU film #91) Richard was between the age of 30 and 40. Included in his household were a female between the age of 20 and 30, two females between the age of 5 and 10, a male and a female under 5. In the 1850 census the Richard Bassett family was living at Chicktawaga, Erie, NY - p. 255 (BYU film #17075). In this census Electa was age 40 and her place of birth was left blank. In the 1855 state census the Richard Bassett family was living at Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, NY - p. 285 (BYU film #583832). Electa, wife of Richard, was age 43 born in Cortland County. In this census the birthplace of Richard is listed as Madison County and his wife's birthplace as Cortland, but most likely it was meant to be the opposite. Richard's parents lived in Cortland County before moving to Genesee County. In the 1860 census the Richard Bassett family was living at Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, NY - p. 76 (BYU film #803725). Richard's wife Electa was age 49 and born in Conn. In the 1865 state census the Richard Bassett family was living at Aurora, Erie, NY - p. 3 (BYU film #825686).
