John H. Bessette
GROTON - John H. Bessette of Groton, CT went home to the Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
Born on November 1, 1948, in Westerly, RI to the late Henry and Eileen (Stewart) Bessette. He attended the Boro school and graduated from Stonington High School, class of 1966.
Following high school, John enlisted in the Army in 1967. While in the service in Korea, he met and married his wife Yong Cha Kim in July 1969. She survives him. John was a Production Coordinator with Pfizer retiring in 2007 after 34 years of service.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart and St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton.
John was an avid Red Sox and New York Giants fan, and was a member of Shennecosset Golf Course, The American Legion, and Groton Elks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three brothers, Eugene Bessette and his wife, Nancy, Peter Bessette and his wife, Carolyn, and David Bessette and his wife, Susan; and his nieces and nephews, Bryna, Keith, Karyn, Andrew and Kelley. He was predeceased by a nephew, Bryan.
His family will receive relatives and friends Thursday August 18, 2022 from 5-7 PM at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, August 19th at 11:00 AM at St.
Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Rd, in Groton. Following the mass, he will be buried at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the St. Edmund' s Retreat PO Box 399 Mystic, CT. 06355 or to Sacred Heart Church 56 Sacred Heart Dr. Groton, CT. 06340.
