Vicki D. Petty checked Social Security Death index records fromBroderbund software's compact discs on 2-28-97. The following information on three Petty males was copied. Information provided by Vernon Petty and Bertha Petty to Vicki (me) indicates this may be the three sons of James Petty from his first marriage. Grandpa worked at theBlack Hills monument to the presidents according to grandma. That information leads me to believe that Elmer Petty, SS# 504-18-9679, DOB,3-22-1896, DOD 12-1982, whose last residence was Akron, Iowa 51001, and whose social security number was issued in South Dakota, was probably the eldest child of James. I also believe Millard Petty, DOB, 11-03-1909,DOD 9-1968, whose SS# was issued in Wyoming and last address was Casper,Wyoming 82601 and Cecil Petty, DOB, 4-27-1903, DOD 10-1976, last known address, Casper, Wyoming 82601, were the remaining two children of James Petty from his first marriage. I write this information, which can't be confirmed at this time, so the information won't be lost. I did not know that grandpa lived in Wyoming before he and Bertha married. I thought they met and married in Missouri, but this may be incorrect. Millard,the youngest of the first group of children was born in 1909. Elsie,oldest of the second group of children, was born in 1912. It is very possible that Bertha and James actually met and married in Wyoming. Again, this information has not been verified by any source at this time. It is very exciting to find these names with locations and years that fit with the family and I will diligently search for confirmation ordenial through recorded information.
