Bassett was born in Buffalo township, Ogle county, Ill., May 1, 1857 and died at home in Cheyenne Wells, Colo., Monday, Jan. 6, 1913, his death being due to apoplexy. He was married to Susan A. Rohrer, a daughter of Henry Rohrer of Polo, at Pine Creek, Ill., January 20, 1886. To this union were born six children, Minnie E., Anna H. Paulson, Lloyd, Mildred A., Lucy M., and Ada M., who, with the wife and mother survive him. Mr. and Mrs. Bassett moved to Springfield, Neb., in February, 1886, where they lived until they moved to Cheyenne Wells, Colo., about six years ago. The deceased also leaves three brothers and a sister to mourn his loss.
