Bassett, 55, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the Veteran?s Center, Dayton, Ohio, after a long illness. He was born, March 7, 1899 in Winfield, Kans., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lyons. He married Lula Gipson May 16, 1925 in Waukegan, Ill. They lived in Bangor for the last 16 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post. He saw service in World War 1 and his illness was due to an injury received then. Surviving is his wi8fe, Lula, and 13 children; Mrs. Jaunita Evans, Watervliet; Mrs. Annabell Smith, St. Joseph; Donna, Carole, Rosemary, Joyce and Victoria, all at home; Everett J., Benton Harbor; Stanley, Mike, Victor, James, Robert, all at home; and a brother, Fred, Avoca, Ia. The Stafford Funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements which are incomplete.
