James Bass Obituary
James Edward Bass, 65, Johnson City, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, in the Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, North Carolina. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Lawrence E. and Libbie Pauline Franklin Bass. He was a graduate of Hampton High School. He was retired from the Phillips Consumer Electronics Corporation after 28 years of service. He retired in 1988. Mr. Bass served in the United States Marin Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. He was also a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 and the Scottish Rite of Knoxville. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his first wife Wandy Kelly Bass, December 21, 1991, and by a brother, Herb Bass.
Surivivors include his wife, Branda Osteen Bass; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Doug Deloach and Jamie and Mark Schall, all of Elizabethton; a stepson, Anthony Greene, Hendersonville, North Carolina; a sister, JoAnn Colbaugh, Elizabethton; a brother, Ken Bass, Hampton; four grandchildren, Lucas ?Bo? DeLoah, David ?Bud? Lyons, Kelly ?Rabbit? Lyons, and Cristohper ?J. Robin? Schall; one stepgranddaughter, Kassi Greene.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 pm. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Polk officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Rene Mains and Gary Rice will provide the music. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be Lucas Deloach, David Lyons, Mike Cole, Anthony Greene, Gary Taylor and Junior Kent. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family and all of his many family and friends, Military Honors will be conducted by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Doug Deloach, 309 Holly Lane, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetary.
