Moore Coroner Says Bass Boy?s Death A Suicide
VASS, Oct. 12 ? The death of a 13-year-old boy at his home on Route 2, Vass, Wednesday has been ruled suicide by Moroe County Coroner Ralph G. Steed.
Thomas Wayland Bass, a seventh grade student at Vass-Lakeview School, was found haning in the barn Wednesday by members of his family who had missed him about suppertime.
The youth?s family could offer no explanation for the act, saying he left no note, had been in good spirits and had never been in trouble.
Funeral was held at 3 p.m. today at Highland Baptist Church by Rev. Glenn Snider, pastor, and burial was in Lakeview cemetery.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Bass; one brother, James W.; and three sisters, Arlene, Gaynell and Brenda, all of the home; and his grandmother, Mrs. L.A. Stewart of Route 2, Vass, and Mrs. Marshall Bass of Vass.
