She was the wife of the late Leonel Bessette. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Perrin and Odena (Desroches) Rothera. She was a life-long resident of the area.Mrs. Bessette was a Stitcher in the garment industry for many years before retiring. She was a member of the New Bedford Association for the deaf, was an avid reader and loved animals.She is survived by her daughter, Carol Koepke and her partner David Freitas of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Sarah Koepke of Fairhaven and Rebekah Santos and her husband Thomas of Acushnet and four great grandchildren, Kyle and Grace Imbeau and Nolan and Mason Santos.Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11 AM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visitation 10-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
