Robert J. "Bob" Campbell
Robert J. "Bob" Campbell, age 90, a Lyndonville resident, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
The son of the late Guy and Lillian (Bassett) Campbell, he was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Morrisville. He was a 1933 graduate of Johnson Peoples Academy, and he married Kathleen Gibson in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy CB's during World War II from 1943-1946. In 1949 he served in the Army National Guard and was an instructor at Camp Pickett during the Korean Conflict, retiring in 1972. He served as first sergeant of the local National Guard for many years. Bob worked as a heating contractor for 32 years.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Richard and Gat Campbell, their children Frances Matthews and her family, Robert Campbell, all of Fayettevlle, N.C., Roberta and Steven Tanner of Lyndonville, their children, MM3 Eric MacInnis of Everett, Wash., Samantha MacInnis of Brighton, Mass., and Shawn MacInnis of Lyndonville; additional grandchildren, Pamela Moyles and Angela Moyles, both of Wheatridge, Colo., five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Vermont. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen, in 1980; and a daughter, Karleen Campbell, in 2005.
Visiting hours will be at the Pearsons Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, Jan. 29, from 2 till 5 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 4 p.m. officiated by his son-in-law, Steve Tanner. Interment will be in the spring at the Lyndon Center Cemetery.
