Clyde Bassett
March 13, 1932 ? November 3, 2014
Clyde was born on March 13, 1932, in Ante, Virginia to the late Clarence U. Easter and Ethel Pair-Easter. She received her education in Brunswick County. She met and married Robert Bassett in 1955, who preceded her in death. To this union three children were born of which one, Charlie Bassett, preceded them in death. She was a loving and faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church until her death. She was also the mother of the church where everyone called her "Grandma". For years she would bring candy to the church every Sunday to give out to the kids and even the grown-ups started looking for the candy on Sunday. She babysat quite a few of the kids in the church also. She was truly loved and respected by everyone she met. She was an amazing Woman of God who died the way she lived, peacefully. She will be missed for her loving, kind and giving spirit. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Robert Jr., one daughter, Linda both of Lawrenceville, VA; one daughter-in-law, Barbara "Winkie" Bassett; six grandchildren, Arnold Lydell Booth and Brian Bassett (Star) of Sacramento, CA, William Bassett (Demetric) of Wilmington, NC, Damien Bassett of Woodbridge, VA, Charlie Bassett (Adrienna) and Shaun Bassett, Victoria, VA; four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Emanuel, Keshaun, and Cameron Bassett; Yvonne Easter, a niece who she helped raise; two sisters, Alma Jones and Sarah Brandon (deceased); nine brothers, Clarence Easter, Jr, (Josephine), Lawrence Easter (Mattie), Leon Easter, (Ernestine, deceased), Garland Brown (Audrey); five deceased brothers; Royal, Thomas, and William Easter, Robert and Leslie Brown; two aunts, Dorothy Kelly and Evelyn Robinson; one special nephew, Willie Epps, who lived with her for a while, two loving and special nieces, Linda Easter and Cowanda Rogers, who assisted with her healthcare, taking her back and forth to the doctors or whatever was needed. She also leaves many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved as if they were all her children and there was nothing she wouldn't do for any of them.
