Ervin Bass
Ervin Bass, formerly of Durham, died Friday in Newark, N.J., of burns suffered in a fire in his apartment building.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Union Chapel Captist Church in Northside by the Rev. Nealie Harvie. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Stem.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mozelle Bass of Durham, seven daughters, Mrs. Linda Hicks of Louisburg, Mrs. Brenda Hawkins, Miss Zella Bass, Miss Delona Bass, Miss Bonnie Lisa Bass and Miss Betty Bass, all of Durham, and Miss Mary Loui Bass of Newark; one stepdaughter, Margie Manning of Durham; two sons, Roy Bass and Randy Bass, both of Durham; three stepsons, Steve Webb, John Henry Webb and Dever Webb; his mother, Mrs. Elizabetyh Bass of Durham; four brothers, Willie Bass of Durham, Thomas Bass and Larry Bass, both of Pottstown, Pa., and James Bass of Winsteon-Salem; eight sisters, Mrs. Effie Mann of Louisburg, Mrs. Helen Burnett of Northside, Mrs. Auntie Laws of Pottstown, Mrs. Maggie Burnett of Butner, Mrs. Doris Williams, Miss Lettie Bass and Miss Cryena Bass, all of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Faye Jones of Virgilina, Va.; and 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
