BIOGRAPHY:
1. I have information that a Thomas Wiley Kinnett, born 1841, died 1917, married Mary Jane Dennis Kinnett, born 1845, died 1920; about 1864. had a son, Clarence Delmar Kinnett, born about 1866 and daughter, Ella Kinnett, born about 1870. Father of Thomas Wiley Kinnett was Thomas Kinnett, born November 30, 1814 in Lake County, Indiana, married Nancy Bassett, born 1817 in Ripley County, Indiana. Married in Ripley County, Indiana on September 24, 1837. Siblings of Thomas Wiley Kinnett are; James W., 1840; Elizabeth, 1843; Malissa J, 1845; Arilla, 1847; Sarah, 1849; Mary, 1851. Clarence Delmar Kinnett married Alice Frakes, born about 1866 in Ohio County, Indiana, died May, 1947 in Cross Plains, Ripley County, Indiana. Their children were Anna Myrtlebelle (my grandmother), born February 20, 1889, died December 28, 1927; James Thomas, born December 13, 1890, died September 7, 1960 and Lulu, born 1893.(Gerald Webster, Ancestry.com)
2. (Lee J. Smith, Ancestry.com) Thomas Wiley Kinnett was a farmer living near Cross Plains,Ripley Co., IN. He had grey eyes and brown hair and stood 5'11 1/4".
He first enlisted [Civil War] 18 Sept 1861 at Camp Dearborn as a private in Company C of the 37th Indiana Infantry. He seems to have served as a waiter in army hospitals but was also reported sick. In May 1862 he was sent to Huntsville, being sick in the hospital from 31 December 1861 to May 1862. In June 1862 he was in Nashville. In January 1863 he was at hospital #6 Mufeesboro, TN. He was detached with a supply train 14 October 1863. Wiley, as he evidently called himself, re-enlisted 13 February 1864 and was mustered in 4 march 1864 near Chattanooga. He was slightly wounded at the battle of Punkinvine Creek on 27 May 1864 and sent to the hospital. He was mustered out of the army 24 July 1865 in Louisville and retained his rifle for $6.00. I have copies of these military records.
3. Thomas may have lived in Brown Township, Riplty County in 1860
In my opinion Thomas and Mary Jane are probably buried either in Cross Plains Baptist Cemetery in Riply County or is Hastie Cemetery,Markland, In, Switzerland County.

There are some Kinnetts from the Taylorville, IL area, but they ran long on girls so the name is dying out. My grandfather, John William Kinnett; his father, Alfred D. Kinnett; his grandfather, William Albert Kinnett"Kinnett all lived and died in Taylorville even though every one was born in Indiana State Board turn off lin
I'm just starting my Kinnett research and have info on the generations mentioned above. After that it gets sketchy. I know William Albert's parents were Thomas Wiley Kinnett and Mary Jane Dennis. Thomas Wiley's parents were Thomas W. Kinnett and Nancy Bassett. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, I just read your quire and thought I'd drop you a note. thomas w. kinnett and mary jane dennis are my great, great grand parents. their son elmer elsworth kinnett was my mothers grandfather. i'm afraid i can't go any farther back than what you have, but i can give you information on elmers family, if you like?
