LENOX, Mass., April 20 - Mrs. Carolyn Beardsley Hulbert Bassett, wid
Charles Franklin Bassett, formerly senior partner of Bassett & Sutphin, New
York paper merchants, died here Monday in her home. She was 88 years old. Her
husband was an official of several New York banks.
Mrs. Bassett established the Charles F. Bassett Fund for tubercular
clergymen in the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Arizona and founded several
scholarships at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. She also founded the Save
the Children Fund for Greek Children.
Surviving are a son, Hulbert; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Holt, both of New
York; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
