Walter H. Bassette
Walter H. Bassette of 195 Bristol St., formerly of Ludlow, died Saturday in Wesson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Ludlow, the son of the late Horace and Melvina (Baron) Bassette. He was employed for many years at the Ludlow Manufacturing Co. and was also a member of the Ludlow Police Department. He served with the Army during World War I. He had been a resident of this city for the past several years. He leaves his wife, Anna M. (Walsh) Bassette, a son, Harold J. Bassette of this city; a daughter, Evelyn M. Bassette at home; five brothers, Arthur J. of this city, Albert E.N. of Ludlow, Horace of Westfield, and William R. and Lionel L. of Indian Orchard; two sisters, the Misses Jessie and Lena Bassett, both of Ludlow; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the State St. parlors of the T.P. Sampson Co. Tuesday morning at 8 with a requiem high mass in Holy Family Church at 9. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. today and Monday.
