L.D. ?Porkchop? Bass
Graveside services for L.D. "Porkchop" Bass, 76, of 1120 Gaines Street, Davenport, are 10 a.m. Friday at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.
Mr. Bass died Monday, April 10, 1995, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
He was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Anguilla, Miss., the son of Lavenia Webb. He married Norma Weldon Aug. 20, 1973, in Davenport.
He was employed as a truck driver for 10 years for the City of Davenport, retiring in 1980. He previously worked at Oscar Meyer.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He enjoyed fishing and working on cars.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Virginia Garrett, Davenport; sons, Gene Bass, Davenport, Otha Bass, Marion, Ind., and Paul Arburkle, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert McCall, Saginaw, Mich.
