Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Mannon and Katherine Reynolds Bass. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for School District 56 and a member of Camel Masonic Lodge 44. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cleo Burgess Bass; a son, Jimmy Dean Bass Jr. of Dalton, Ga.; three brothers, the Rev. J.W. Bass and John Bass of Greer and Robert Bass of Anderson; four sisters, Mrs. Nancy hunter Hamby of Greenville, Mrs. Lilly mae Scarborough and Mrs. Nettie Sue Goforth of Anderson and Mrs. Florence Rice of Greer. Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery. Gray Funeral Home is in charge.
