  Notes	William Basset was the ancestor of the Bassets of Sapcote. William Basset was the sheriff of Warwickshire and Leicestershire from 1163 to 1170. He was sheriff of Lincolnshire from 1177 to 1184. He settled at Sapcote, Leicestershire. He was given the Manor of Cheadle in 1175 by Osbert Bassevinus.
