HANNIBAL - Virginia Mae (Jennie) Williams, 79, of Waukegan, Illinois, and formerly of Hannibal, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, February 3, at Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Reverend Faye Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born April 28, 1925, in Lentner to Oscar Robert and Jennie Davis Bassett.
She was married to Otis L. Williams Sr. on May 4, 1943. He died in 1997.
Survivors include three sons, Otis Leon Williams Jr. of Gainesville, Virginia, Morlot Gushey Williams of Gurnee, Illinois, and Lionel Maurice Williams of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter, Veanessa Williams of Park City; one sister, Julia Oneida Bassett of Peoria, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Harry Bassett, Robert Bassett, Oscar Bassett and Harold Bassett.
Mrs. Williams attended Douglass Elementary and High School in Hannibal. She was known for her cooking, baking and hospitality, and enjoyed feeding others who came to her home.
She attended Second Christian Church in New London. She loved and collected Gospel music. She enjoyed singing and for many years was a member of the Hannibal Community Choir.
