BOUNTY LAND CLAIM
FORM OF DECLARATION FOR WIDOW OF DECEASED OFFICER OR SOLDIER

On this 28 day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty 5, personally appeared before me, Dorrgald McQueen a Justice of the Peace authorized to administer oaths within and for the County and State aforesaid, Hannah Bassett aged 68 years a resident of Sweden County of Monroe in the State of New York who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of the identical Sylvenus Bassett deceased, who as a private in the Company commanded by Captain Streeter in the 77th Regiment of New York Militia commanded by Col. Davis in the war with Great Britain, declared by the United States, on the 18 day of June, A.D.1812; that her said husband was called out at Riga N.Y. on or about the 29 day of June 1812 for the term of an indefinite time and continued in actual service in said war for the term of Eleven days and was honorably discharged at
Buffalo or Batavia on or about the 10th day of July A.D. 1812, on account of services being no loner required as will appear by the muster rolls of said Company. That he did not receive a certificate of discharge at said time of discharge.
She also declares that she is the widow of the Identical Sylvenus Bassett who was a private in the Company Commanded by Capt. Kelsey in the N.Y. Militia that he was called out at Riga on or about the 20th day of December 1813 and continued in the actual service over 14 days and was honorably discharged at Buffalo N.Y. on or about the 21st day of March 1814.
That she once applied for and received Land Warrant for 40 acres No. 55,431. And she referred to her ___?___ was appreciation.
She further states that she was married to the said Sylvenus Bassett on the 24 day of November A.D. 1804 by one Leerdrd (?)a clergyman and that her name before her said marriage was ____________________ that her said husband died at Chautaugua Co. N.Y. on the _____ day of ____ A.D. 1833 and that she is still a widow.
This deponent further saith, that neither she nor her said husband has ever applied for, nor have they received Bounty Land heretofore, nor is she, to her knowledge and belief, entitled to receive any under any former act of Congress. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which she may be entitled under the “act granting Bounty Land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States”, passed March 3, 1855.

POWER OF ATTORNEY
Know all Men by these Presents, That I Hannah Bassett of Churchville County of Monroe do hereby irrevocably make, constitute and appoint ? my true and lawful Attorney for me and in my name to demand and receive from the Department of the Interior of the United States, the Certificate or Warrant to which I am entitled for my husband’s Military services, as mentioned in the foregoing declaration; and for good and sufficient reasons, do hereby revoke and countermand any and all other powers of attorney, or other authority, that may have been given by me for any such purposes, and vest the same solely and irrevocably in my said attorney, said _______.
