Janet B. Kent of Crawford, died on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 77.
Mrs. Kent was born on Oct. 16, 1928, in Denver, to Paul and Evelyn (Tempest) Bassett.
She married Howard Eugene Kent on Nov. 1, 1970, in Kansas City, Mo. They moved to Farnsworth Ranch in 1971, commuting back and forth from Kansas City. He died on Dec. 12, 1974, in Kansas City. She became a permanent resident of Crawford in 1990.
Mrs. Kent was a member of Hotchkiss/Crawford Historical Society, Friends of the Crawford Library and many other community and philanthropic organizations. She supported Hospice. She enjoyed deer, the mountains, helping her community and her little corner of Colorado.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband Randy Lynn Kent of Tucson, ariz.; a daughter and her husband, Robin and Paul Carney of Brewster, Mass.; two sisters, Marilyn Reiche and Beverly Haney, both of Orlando, Fla.; a granddaughter, Christin Bowman; and two great-grandchildren, Robyn Bowman and Rachel Commeau.
A funeral gathering will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge.
