Herman C. ?Hank? Bass
VENICE, FL - Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 18, 1933, Herman C. "Hank" Bass of Venice, Florida, and formerly of Scituate, Massachusetts, passed peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2010.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, at Venice Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth; his children, Sally, Sandra, Susan, Margaret (Peggy) and Craig; step sons, Eric, Brian, and Mark; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bass worked in sales and marketing for Formica Corporation for 46 years. He was the New England district manager, and later transferred to Greensboro-High Point as sales consultant to the furniture industry. He was a member of the Golden Circle of Sales Executives at Formica for sales and marketing achievements before retiring in 1998 to take up residence in Venice.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Bass was also a thirty-second degree Mason and long-time Shriner. He was an avid boater and loved celebrating any event with friends at the beach.
Hank's quick smile, indomitable optimism, broad collection of historic stories, and his joy in living each day fully will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Herman C. Bass to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114, or to the Venice Presbyterian Church, 111 Firenze Avenue, Venice, FL 34285.
