BIOGRAPHY: from Bob Scott:
Minor Horton joined the Milton Baptist Church in Milton Twp. Jefferson Co. on the 2nd Saturday Nov. 1852. ON the 3rd Saturday Feb. 1857. the Church had a request from Rykers Ridge to assist in council on Horton's ordination. He preached at Milton a few times in the late 1850s and was licensed in 1858. (A licensed minister was apparently a step lower than an ordained one.) I don't know what happened in the interim but on the 2nd Saturday April 1860 the church voted against Horton's ordination. In May there was a council of churches considering the ordination. The vote must have been against him for on the 2nd Saturday in May 1860, Horton asked for a letter of dismission from Milton.Other Hortons in this church were James Horton b. ca. 1824 who m. Julia Hall.
BIOGRAPHY: Minor was the co-defendant with his father in the divorce of his parents on 10 April 1845.
