      Cochrane, Anita Lynn (nee Bassett) Born at Jonquiere, Quebec on 15 June 1971; Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at Burnaby, BC on October 5th, 2010. Anita was predeceased by her grandparents: Dorothy and George McHenry and Irene and Herb Bassett. She is survived by her husband, Mike Cochrane, her parents Mona and Ted Bassett , her brother Paul, her father-in-law John Cochrane, her brother-in law Ted Cochrane and her many hundreds of friends. After obtaining her Commerce degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Anita moved to Prince George to prepare for her Chartered Accountancy. This is where she met Mike, the perfect husband for her. After gaining accreditation as a Charter Accountant, she followed Mike to Vancouver where they married in 2001 and biked across Canada for their honeymoon. It was shortly after that Anita was diagnosed with breast cancer. That did not stop her from living life to the fullest. She continued to practice her profession as Controller at Sun Rich Fresh Foods, was a dedicated fund raiser for the BC Cancer Foundation and a competitive curler. Anita's favourite fundraising event was The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. She founded Team LiveStrong. As an active member of the Royal City Curling Club, she was on the team that represented BC in the national mixed curling championships in 2008 where she was named the most sportsmanlike player. Unable to continue playing she started coaching and took ladies and junior girls teams to the provincials in 2009. Anita was named the BC Curling Coach of the Year for 2010. She also coached the Australian Senior Men's team to a bronze medal at the world championships in 2010. Anita also loved her time at Candle Lake and Birkenhead Lake. Anita had a magical personality that inspired everyone she met. We'll all miss her beautiful smile and laugh, her warm presence, and her openness. Anita made the world a better place, and she'll be in our hearts forever. A Celebration of Anita's life will be held at Brock House Restaurant: 3875 Point Grey Road, Vancouver, BC at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 16th.
