Mrs. Margaret Bassett
Mrs. Margaret Bassett, 79, of 300 N. Glenwood Ave., died at 4:10 a.m. yesterday at her residence.
Mrs. Bassett was married to John H. Bassett on Dec. 10, 1894. Her husband died June 3, 1939, and a son, Martin J., died last February. They resided in Pontiac before coming to Springfield 16 years ago.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Springfield Woman?s club, the Lalla Rookh chapter of the Easter Star, the White Shrine, and the Methodist church.
Surviving are a son, Charles E. Bassett, of Springfield; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Morrow, Mrs. Elizabeth Kern, Mrs. Mary Grubb, and Mrs. Kathryn Dawson, all of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Anna Barrett, of Springfield; a grandson, Jack Kern, of Springfield, and a granddaughter, Kathryn Bassett, of Chicago.
The body was removed to the Bisch Memorial home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Ancil M. Willey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday.
