Theresa P. Absi
Theresa P. Absi of Fitchburg, active at city civic center; 79 FITCHBURG Theresa P. (Bessette) Absi, 79, of Fitchburg, died Saturday(May 10) in her home, with her two sons and daughter by her side. Her husband of 44 years, George A. Absi, died in 1993. She leaves two sons, John A. Absi and his wife, Joann of Wilmington, N.C., and Paul A. Absi of Fitchburg; one daughter, Anne C. Guida of Fitchburg. She also leaves one brother, Roland Bessette of Cumberland, R.I.; three sisters, Jeannette Sassi and Elizabeth "Betty" Lapointe, both of Pawtucket, R.I., and Margaret Rinaldi in Florida; three grandchildren, Christina Rogers of Wilmington, N.C., Matthew Absi of Portsmouth, VA., and Jason Guida of Fitchburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Laurence Brdar of Pawtucket, Fleurette Wood of PA, and Lilliane Murphy of Seekonk, MA. Mrs. Absi was employed as a teacher's aide and librarian at Fitchburg High School for several years, and later was a supervisor at the Whistler Radar Detector Co. in Westford, MA. She retired as a secretary in 1998 from the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg, after 10 years. She was a member of St. Camillus de Lellis Parish in Fitchburg, was a 1946 graduate of East High School in Pawtucket, R.I., and was a longtime volunteer along with her husband at the Wallace Civic Center. She will be remembered for loving her family very, very much. She was born on March 22, 1929, in Pawtucket, R.I., a daughter of the late Jean L. and Cecile A. (Laurendeau) Bessette. She lived in Fitchburg since 1959. ABSI Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday(May 13) from the SmithMallahyMasciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 359 Daggett Ave., Pawtucket, R.I. Calling hours at the Funeral Home are 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday(May 12). Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to Diversified VNAHospice, 25 Tucker Drive, Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
