April 29th funeral services for George Bassett, 49, of Detroit Michigan died at 12:00 a.m. Saturday of a heart attack at the home of his niece, Mrs. Bee Ellis, Evansville, were held at the Robert Smith Memorial Chapel, at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bassett had visited in Owensboro last Friday. Surviving are a son Atwood of Detroit; two sisters Mrs. Laura Brooks of Central City, Kentucky, and Mrs. Emma Graham of Belton, Kentucky, four brothers, John L. of Evansville, Lafe, Alf, and Will Bassett of Calhoun, Kentucky. A granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. W.A. Freeman of Owensboro, a niece attended the funeral.
