  Notes	William David Bassett was educated in the public schools and Smith's Academy, Poughkeepsie, New York. He was an importer and wholesale dealer in furs from 1857 to 1874 in New York City. In 1874 he came to Coleman Station, New York, and followed farming there during the remainder of his life. Amenia Times, New York Saturday, July 15, 1899 William D. Bassett The body of William D. Bassett of Coleman Station was brought to the Amenia Island Cemetery for interment on Tuesday afternoon, and was followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Bassett had been ill only about two weeks, and his death occurred last Sunday evening. The deceased enjoyed the confidences and esteem of all those who came in contact with him in his long and honorable life, and his demise is a cause of universal regret. His age was 72 years. Amenia Times Saturday, August 5, 1899 In the estate of William D. Bassett, late of Coleman's Station, letters of administration have been recently granted to Caroline A. Bassett: $1,500 real and $1,500 personal, passing to Caroline A. Bassett, widow; Clarence W. Bassett, Josephine B. Tichenor and William H. Bassett, children.
