Claire B. Wellspeak
WEST SPRINGFIELD – Claire (Bessette) Wellspeak, 66, of 1282 Westfield St., a 20-year, semi-retired secretary for Strathmore Paper Co., died yesterday in Baystate Medical Center. She previously worked for 15 years as a secretary for Gilbert and Barker Co. Born in Farnum, Canada, she lived in this town most of her life. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the West Springfield Golden Agers, the Gilbarco Alumni, the Ramapogue Womens Club, the Senior Citizens Club and the West Springfield Garden Club. She was a communicant of St. Louis de France Church and a member of its Women’s Guild and choir. She was also a member of the Mount Carmel choir. Her husband, Raymond M. Wellspeak, died in 1978. She leaves a son, Raymond G.; a daughter, Lorraine C. Girard; and a brother George A. Bessette, all of West Springfield; two sisters Simone Boyle of Wethersfield, Conn. And Lucille Caputo of Springfield, and give grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday morning at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home and in the church, with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
