February 20, 2012 Mary Carson Bass, age 86 of Fayetteville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Lincoln Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born October 20, 1925 in Winchester; the daughter of the late Elonzo Clifford and Artie Mary (Adams) Carson. She was a very active volunteer with the American Red Cross and the VFW. Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Bass who was a POW imprisoned for three years. Surviving are sister, Gracie Carson Whitfield of Fayetteville, TN, nieces, Mary Alice Sells and Sandra DeLeeuw, nephews, Clayton Whitfield and Mark Carson, great-nieces, Anicia Lester, Marcy Quick, Candace Schertz, Carmen Whitfield, Amanda Carson, and Kathleen Beegle, great-nephews, Cory Sells, Nick Beegle, and Brandon, sister-in-law, Helen Carson, and very dear friend, Shirley Coker. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Garner Cemetery, Decherd, TN.
