She was the wife of Armand J. Bessette. Born in Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Louise (Valois) Cournoyer, she had lived in North Smithfield from 1948-1982 before moving to Woonsocket. She had been the co-owner of Hi View Motel for 23 years before she retired in 1980. She attended Precious Blood Church, and worked as a volunteer at the St. Antoine Residence. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Lucille Brian of South Kingstown and Louise Fiehweg of Gastonia, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
