  Notes	Date and Paper Unknown Mrs. Martha Jane White Gone to Her Rest After a long illness during which many times death seemed very near, Martha jane White passed away last Saturday morning at 10 o?clock a.m. Mrs. White was one of the pioneer women of this State having crossed the plain in a covered wagon in 1866 when but eight years of age. She came to Big Valley June 10, 1877, and the following year, April 21, 1878, was married to Isaac Wilson Bassett. To this union were born seven sons, two of whom, Isaac Leonard and Jessie V., are dead. Her husband died, June 3, 1905 and two years later she was married to John B. White who survives her. She was born Feb. 17, 1858 and died June 9, 1928 making her 70 years, 4 months and two days old. She was affiliated with the Christian Church, and was a member of the Juliet Rebekah Lodge of Bieber. She leaves five sons to survive her; George E. Bassett of Corning, Claude M. Bassett of Dixie Valley, Roy W. Bassett of Cassel, Sylvan K. Bassett of Adin, and Vern H. Bassett of Pitt 3. Mrs. White was known and loved by nearly every resident of Big Valley where she has made her home for so many years. Her remains were interred Sunday in the Hillside Cemetery, services being conducted by J.T. Steele, and the funeral was under the auspices of Juliet Rebekah Lodge of Bieber.
