Adams, Three Share Blame for Fatal Accident
Judge Rules Negligence Factor in Collision That Killed Bernard Bassett
Adams, Nov. 23 ? Judge Henry L. Harrington has ruled that negligent acts of Harold Bressette of Cheshire and Arthur Scarbo and Arthur Toen of North Adams, contributed to the cause of an automobile collision on Columbia street October 23, resulting in the death of Bernard Bassett of Greylock. An inquest into the death of Bassett was held in district court the 7th and 14th, and during a criminal hearing the three defendants were fined and given suspended jail sentences for negligent driving.
Bassett, riding in the rear of a truck driven by Bressette, was thrown to the pavement by the collision of the machines, the second of which was operated by Scarbo, who was driving under the license of Toen.
