Rita Lebond (Picture included)
Rita (Caouette) Leblond, 94, a longtime Holyoke resident, formerly of Worcester Place died on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. Rita was born in Holyoke on May 31, 1918 a daughter of the late Joseph and Alma (Bessette) Caouette and educated locally. She was a longtime nurses aide at the Providence Hospital and volunteered her talents in knitting and crocheting for many of the families at the Providence Nursery. Rita loved cooking, playing cards, being active with the French American Womens Club and The St. Annes Sodality and was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She was predeceased by her husband Edmond Leblond on November 24, 1980 and by three sisters, Lucille Fleming, Gabrielle Bernier and Yvette Herbert. Rita is survived by her devoted daughters, Dolores Dolly Constantine of Hopkinton; Denise Green of Westfield, MA; her brother, Joseph Caouette of Florida; her three grandchildren, Bill Green, Brian Constantine, Julie Bilodeau; three great grandchildren; Shane and Amber Green and Tyler Bilodeau. Rita also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins to remember her warmth and caring way. Visiting hours for Rita will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke. Her funeral will begin on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 8:45 AM from the funeral home and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke. The burial will be in Precious Blood Cemetery, So. Hadley. In lieu of flowers if friends desire, memorial donations can be made to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, 15 South 59th St., Belleville, IL 62223-4694.
