MIDDLEBORO – Emily (Costa) Bessette, 91, of Middleboro died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in Oak Hill Nursing Home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was the widow of Armand Bessette.
Born in North Easton, she attended area schools.
Mrs. Bessette was employed at several mills in the New Bedford area and later was a seamstress at Lakeville Hospital, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of Sacred Heart parish.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing, as well as travel, cards and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a son, Roger Bessette of Middleboro; two daughters, Joyce McFadyen of California and Leannette Martin of Fairhaven; three sisters, Katherine Ray of New Bedford, Grace Handy of Taunton and Dorothy Francisco of Middleboro; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be 9 a.m. tomorrow from the O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Armand and Emily had Roger Bessette, Joyce Bessette McFadyen and Leanette Bessette Martin.
