      Mary L. (Bessette) Micciulla

MICCIULLA, Mary L. (Bessette) Mary Louise (Bessette) Micciulla, widow of Jack F. Micciulla of Old Saybrook and formerly of Enfield died Tuesday, (March 25, 2008) in her home with her family at her side. Born to Louise Mason Bessette and Godrey Bessette on January 10, 1925, she was raised in Fall River, MA. As a young woman she left Fall River with the Tucker Girls from Newfoundland, Canada. The Tuckers became her adopted family. The girls landed in Hartford where they all made their lives. A date with Sebastian Micciulla led her to the love of her life, Jack F. Micciulla, and more family to call her own. They were married and had two daughters and made their lives in Enfield. She was a mother, homemaker, and wife first of all and proud of it. As was her way, she cared for her mother, father and three aunts until their passing. In her life she had many close friends and family whom she cherished dearly. Her greatest joys were Clam Boils and camping with the whole family and collecting friends that she considered family. She enjoyed baking and all those who knew her will remember her cookies, pies and Harvey Wallbanger Cakes. In their travels Mary and Jack found the place where they will rest together in peace on Ocracoke Island, NC. Ocracoke Island became a second home, and of course it wouldn't be home without the family to enjoy it with. We will have many Mary and Jack tales to remember and tell. When she moved to Old Saybrook, many a summer day she could be seen riding around Cornfield Point in her golf cart. She was also a communicant of St. John's RC Church of Old Saybrook. She leaves behind her daughters and their husbands, Carol Ann and Peter Benoit of Old Saybrook, and Mary Lou and Maurice Moriarty of Limerick, ME; as well as her best friend and adopted sister Irene Wiggins; step-granddaughter Lindsey Schreir; adopted grandchildren; many God-Children, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and her very special friends. She will be missed by all. Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, on Friday, March 28, from 5-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Johns RC Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Hospice c/o Middlesex Hospital 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457.
