Obit: Edward Williamson was born near Spalding, Lincolnshire, England, Nov 1
1844 and came to this country with his parents in 1850. He lived four years in
Illinois, then came to Wisconsin, and located in the town of Monroe, Adams Co,
where he lived until 1901, when he sold his farm and located at Stevens Point
and has since been engaged in the general mercantile business until the time
of his death April 26 1909. In 1868 he was united in marriage to Cornel
Bassett and to this union six children precede him. Later on he was aga
united in marriage to Mrs. Etta Porter, who with one daughter, Mrs. Cora
Parks, survive him. He also leaves to mourn his loss three sisters, Mrs. Sarah
A Beeston of Nekoosa, Wis Mrs. Elizabeth Tilley of Chicago Ill and Mrs. Hannah
Blythe of Milnor N Dakota, Mrs. Beeston being the only one present at t
funeral. His remains were brought to Nekoosa Tuesday noon, where they were met
by friends and relatives and taken to the home of Geo F Dawes at Monroe
Center. The funeral being held Wednesday at 10am at the U B Church conducted
by Rev Upson of Necedah. He was laid at rest in the Strongs Prairie cemetery.
The Monroe Center choir gave some very appropriate selections. The pall
bearers were Geo. F Dawes, Spencer Abbott, Elias Jefferson, FM Rous, Ch
Haven and CA Taylor all being old time neighbors and associates of the
deceased. He was well known throughout this county being at one time Po
Commissioner. The casket was covered with many beautiful flowers which
accompanied his remains from his late home showing the respect and esteem in
which he was held. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire
community.
