  Notes	Elkhart Daily Review, May 14, 1890 Shirley, the three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Bassett pulled a can of hot lard off of a stove on her face and breast, this forenoon, and received painful burns. She was with her mother at the home of her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. O.W. Hatch, where prompt medical assistance was rendered. Shirley, died in 1892.
