Nicholas Lamont Bassett
Bunkie - Funeral services for Nicholas L. Bassett, age 29, of Bunkie will be held at Salem Baptist Church Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating. Internment in the church cemetery under the direction of Progressive Funeral Home in Bunkie.
"Nick" as he was called by many passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at his residence.
He was baptized at an early age by the late Pastor James Sampson at Salem Baptist Church. Nicholas attended Bunkie Elementary and graduated from Bunkie High School in 2006. After completing high school he enrolled and graduated from T. H. Harris Technical School in Opelousas, Louisiana, in 2008 with a diploma in Electrician-Commerical Wiring. Nicholas worked several jobs throughout Louisiana as an electrician. He served in the US National Guard from 2012-2014. In January 2018 he was employed by J & M Eagles of Batchelor, Louisiana until time of death.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lemuel and Willie Faye Bassett, maternal grandfather, Oscar Friels, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory; parents, Reginald and Sandra Bassett of Bunkie; brothers, Brandon Williams (Shanna) of Bunkie; Reginald Jamal Bassett (Gloria) of Natchitoches; sister, Faye Bassett (McKinley) of LeCompte; grandmother, Dorothy Friels of Bunkie; fiancee, Mylisha Dobbins of Evergreen; godmother, Joanna Friels Sanders of Baton Rouge; six aunts and seven uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until time of services Saturday at the church.
