FIELDS ? Evangelist Edna Mae
NEWARK, N.J. ? Evangelist Edna Mae Fields of Newark N.J. passed away into eternal rest Tuesday at Beth Israel Hospital after a long illness. The Jacksonville, Florida native had lived most of her life in Newark, N.J. She attended Mather Junior College and was well known as a promoter in the religious field for many years. She was affiliated with many gospel groups, Bishops and Elders, also she was a featured speaker for many churches, etc. She was a member of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ in Newark, since its establishment and was loved by all. She had a flair for knowing the right thing to do at the right time. Everyone who knew her had something nice to say about her. Its been felt that she could always see the brighter side of darkness in everybody. Know one was all bad, there was always some good in everyone she would say. Surviving are her husband Deacon John Fields of Newark, N.J., 2 daughters Mrs. Adell Pat Johnson of Orange, N.J., 3 sisters Mrs. Sadie J. Pierce Rosborough, Mrs. Alice Smith Busby and Mrs. Corona Harrigan all of Ridgeland, S.C., 2 brothers Mr. Vaudell Bud Bass and Mr. Otto Bass both of Ridgeland, S.C., 2 grandsons, Mrs. Eno Fields of West Orange, N.J., Mr. Leon Johnson, Jr. of Newark, N.J., 2 granddaughters miss Nyema Johnson of Orange, N.J. Miss Michelle Fields of Newark, N.J., a host of aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral service will be Monday 11am at Gethsemane Church of God in Christ, Bergen Street, Newark, N.J. under the direction of the Bishop.
