Funeral plans will be announced by Talbert Shives Funeral Home. Mr. Bass was born in Kershaw County, a son of the late Henry K. Bass and Sally Irene Roberts Bass. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the Men?s Sunday School Class. A retired employee of the Olympia Mills, he was a foster grandparent at Midland Center. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lannie Branham Bass; four daughters, Mrs. Tom Brown of Blythewood, Esther Bass, Mrs. Danny Gunter and Mrs. Roger Browning, all of Columbia; five sons, Talmadge Bass of Rock Hill, Calvin Bass of Gaston, Donny Ray Bass of Columbia, Larry Bass of Sabetha, Kan., T. Sgt Melvin E. Bass of Warner Robbins Air Force Base, Ga., and Jerry Don Bass of Blythewood, three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hood and Mrs. Estelle Cook, both of Blythewood, and Mrs. Pearl Albert of Topeka, Kan., two brothers, Maxie L. Bass of Columbia and Gary F.
