Rochester, New York: On March 13th, 2015 at the age of 86, Clara passed away at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. Her spirit and love is carried on by her husband, Clark McDonald her children Larry McDonald, Clark Jr. McDonald, Stephanie (McDonald) Brogdon, Regan McDonald, Keya Washington, Latoya (Corey) Easley, Quinneka (David) Lee, Tommy Jackson, and Anthony Jackson. Auntie Claire to Kenya Clarke and Retha Campbell. Her daughter Kimberly McDonald precedes her in death. In addition to the numerous foster children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family in Colorado, and a variety of extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. Born on May 22, 1928 in Walsenburg, CO., to the late Leslie and Myrtle (Henderson) Bassett, Clara was the oldest of nine siblings. Clara married the love of her life Clark McDonald on May 16, 1956 in Denver, Colorado.

Together they spent 58 years of caring for others, love, and compassion. Clara was Clara, also known as Auntie Claire, was a devoted wife, loving mother and a true friend. Clara's role of caregiver was the most rewarding.

Clara provided for foster children, adoptive, and those she cared for in her nanny role. Clara also was a nurse aid in Columbus, Ohio. We have been blessed to learn many values from Clara. For starters respect other people, coining the phrase REALLY; sarcasm with a touch of class, elegance, and animated face expressions. Paper plates are good for everything, and the biggest LOVE. Clara loved to cook and enjoyed reading crossword puzzles, soap operas, and Denzel. She enjoyed visiting garage sales on the weekends too. Clara has touched many lives. Her lessons and love will continue to be a wonderful memory of a strong, independent, and vibrant woman. We have been blessed to know her and her love.
