Wm. Baas Dead, Buried Here Tomorrow
Mr. William M. Baas, for many years a resident of Madison, died at his home in Milwaukee Monday afternoon at 2:30, of bowel trouble, after a week's illness. He was 42 years of age. His remains were brought here for burial today. The funeral will take place from the home of his mother, Mrs. Sophia Baas, 923 Jenifer street, at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Baas was born in Milwaukee, April 28, 1853, and lived there till he was 12 years old, when he came to Madison with the family. He attended the city schools and high school. About twenty years ago he was married to Miss Carrie Showers, who with their one son, Arthur, now 18 years of age, survives him. Mrs. and Mrs. Baas conducted a hotel in Madison for several years and seven years ago went to Milwaukee, where they ran the Madison house, one block from the Union depot.
The news of his deaths is a great surprise to Madison friends, who did not know he was ill. His brother, Stephen C. Baas, received a telegram Monday morning bringing the first information of his sickness, and was with him and hour before he died. He also leaves a sister in this city.
The pall bearers will be: Henry Fauerbach, C. A. Mayer, Geo. H. Joachim, F. F. Sheashy, Wm. Fizette, J. S. Ott.
