Gone Home
Alexander Bass, well known to many of our people here, died at his home at Anselmo, February 19th, at 8 a.m. The remains were sent to this place for interment on Thursday of last week. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, this city, conducted by Rev. S.P. Morris; assisted By Rev. Mr. Trites at 2 p.m., and the remains were then taken to their final resting place in the Broken Bow cemetery where the last sad offices of burial were performed.
Deceased was born in Warrick Co., Indiana, March 24, 1836. He was married to Lamira Ann Holcomb, Nov. 16, 1862. From this union eight children were born, all of whom are living and with the exception of Gifford, are resident of Custer county, and were at the funeral of their father.
Deceased moved with his family to Hamilton county, this state, in October 1883, thence to Custer county in 1890, settling in the Holcomb neighborhood, and in two years they moved to this city. They moved to Grand Island in the fall of 1896 where they resided till the death of Mrs. Bass in June 1901, then with the remainder of the family, moved to Anselmo where he lived till death called him from the active scenes of earth.
Mr. Bass was a good citizen and neighbor, a kind husband and father, a true and devoted friend and in their sad bereavement, all those who mourn have the deepest sympathy of the whole community.

Died
DIED ? Bass, at Anselmo, Neb., Thursday, February 19, 1903., Alexander Bass age 67 next March. The deceased had been in poor health and for several weeks he had been failing rapidly. He was a man who enjoyed the good will of al who knew him and was regarded by all of good citizen. he was preceded to the better land by his wife in June, 1901. Since which time has been making his home with his children at Anselmo He leaves to morn his death six sons and two daughters. They are Dr. T.W. Bass of this city C.E., Roe, Adrian, Walter, Rosa and Lillie of Anselmo and Gifford of California. They were all present at the funeral except Gifford. The remains were shipped to Broken Bow Friday morning where the funeral services were held at 2 o?clock in the afternoon in the Baptist church, the services being conducted by Rev. S.P. Morris, assisted by Rev. Geo. P. Trites, after which the remains were laid to reset in the Broken Bow Cemetery. The REPUBLICAN extends the sympathy of the community to the bereaved.
