Death of Thomas J. Bassett
LEOMINSTER, Oct. 2 – Thomas J. Bassett died at his home, 9 High street, yesterday morning. He was born in Danvers and was 82 years old. Mr. Bassett passed most of his life in this city. He was employed for 38 years as a millwright at the Whitney Reed Corp., retiring a few years ago.
He is survived by three sons, David E. Bassett, superintendent of the city forestry department; William and George Bassett, all of this city, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Berringer of Auburn.
Mr. Bassett was one of the founders of St. Leo’s parich and for many years prominent in the parish activities.
The funeral will be held tomorrow morning from the late home. At 10 o’clock a solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated in St. Leo’s church. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s cemetery, Fitchburg.
